Professor Dr. Khandakar Shariful Islam is a distinguished agricultural scientist, educator, and academic leader with more than four decades of excellence in teaching, research, and university administration. He currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at City University, Bangladesh. Prior to joining City University, he served as Professor at the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) and spent an illustrious academic career at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), where he contributed significantly to teaching, research, and institutional leadership. An internationally recognized entomologist, Professor Islam has made outstanding contributions to the fields of insect ecology, integrated pest management (IPM), biological control, and sustainable crop protection. His research has addressed critical agricultural challenges, including pest management in cereals, vegetables, fruits, and spices. He has published 134 research articles, including 94 indexed in Scopus, and has earned more than 1,180 citations with an H-index of 20. Professor Islam has successfully supervised 112 MS students and 23 PhD scholars, demonstrating his commitment to mentoring the next generation of agricultural scientists. His leadership extends beyond academia through his roles in national policy, research governance, and professional organizations. He currently serves as President of the Bangladesh Association for the Advancement of Science (BAAS) and holds key positions in several national scientific and academic bodies.
